The Lavanta Approach

Room to learn through experience

Play, everyday skills, sensory discovery and creative activities connect with one another. Children’s questions and participation are at the centre of the learning journey.

Contact our school to discuss how our approach is adapted to your child’s age group.

The Lavanta approach

From everyday curiosity to exploration

Colourful materials may invite art, a detail in the garden may lead to observation, and a story may become role play. The Lavanta approach connects learning experiences rather than treating them as separate boxes.

We value connections between play, language, movement, sensory exploration and everyday life. The name does not claim an international certification, a licensed educational system or guaranteed outcomes.

Connected experiences

One idea, different forms of expression

An idea does not have to be expressed only through speech. A drawing, a structure, movement or role play can also communicate meaning. Returning to a topic in different ways can make room for individual interests.

A garden observation might lead to a discussion of colours, a leaf drawing, a rhythm or a short story. These are illustrative connections rather than a fixed daily checklist.

Planning and experience

Four steps that make the approach concrete

01

Listen and observe

Notice materials a child chooses, the questions they ask and how they would like to participate.

02

Prepare the environment

Consider suitable materials, space and adult support for the group and its interests.

03

Try together

Make room to explore, choose and try another way, rather than only reaching a predetermined result.

04

Share and reconsider

Talk about the experience, recall it through a creation or photograph and leave space for the next question.

Your questions

No. The same principles may involve different durations, materials and forms of participation. The age-group pages give examples; ask the school about current practice.
